The official crest of the City of Prague with the sword in a gloved hand and the portcullis. As usual the European heraldry is steeped in symbolism. This version of the crest is relatively recent (1991), but the graphic elements go back centuries. Here are some of the more interesting components; the centerpiece is a shield with the portcullis and three golden spires and above the shield are are three crowned medieval helmets. This is odd as the Swedish crest also consists of three crowns. Are three lions rampant enough? And they all have two tails....
